2012 Audi A6

The Audi A6 has appeared on Car and Driver magazine’s “Ten Best” list more than once, and the 2012 A6 carries on a tradition of excellence. Debuting at the 2011 Detroit Car Show, the new Audi A6 executive sedan showed off its advanced technology. Features that were once Premium now come standard. Furthermore, the new 2012 A6 features a price drop yet has better fuel economy and a roomier cabin than its popular predecessor.

Under the hood, the 2012 Audi A6 is available with two powertrains: a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine and a supercharged 3.0-liter V6. The engines can achieve 211 horsepower and 310 horsepower, respectively, and maximum torques are 2900 and 4500 rpm. The 2012 A6’s fuel economy is impressive and beats the 2011 model: Thanks to a lighter body, a friction reduction system, and other modifications, it gets up to 28 miles per gallon in city traffic and 33 mpg on the highway. 

The new Audi A6 features premium features even at base price. Some perks include MMI Radio Plus with a 6.5” screen, automatic headlights, ambient lighting, cruise control, three-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with four-way adjustment. Drivers and front seat passengers also enjoy the A6’s eight-way adjustable seats with four types of lumbar support – and with the Audi “Drive Select” memory system, the car can automatically provide the preferred seat settings, steering wheel tilt, mirror settings, and even transmission shift characteristics for different drivers. The 2012 standard package, just like the Premium Plus and Prestige packages, can also be enhanced with optional voice control for the navigation and music systems. 

The A6 Premium Plus package adds on HD radio, a larger MMI screen, and an upgrade from 17” to 18” alloy wheels. It also comes with Audi’s cellular data plan, a system that supplies a constant Wi-Fi connection for up to eight devices, such as iPhones and laptop computers, while also providing the Audi’s navigational system with real-time route and traffic information. Finally, options such as keyless entry and adaptive headlights become available with the Prestige Package. 

The Audi A6 has been rated #1 in automotive testing by the DEKRA organization three times in a row. Occupants benefit from anti-lock brakes and traction control, Audi’s patented electronic stabilization system, an advanced airbag system, and other safety features.
